The Chinese Bronze Era is that time in history when man finally got life a little easier. Like many cultures before and after the Chinese Bronze Era, the Chinese met a point in their culture where vast improvements were underway. Instead of a hunt and gather lifestyle, for instance, men could grow and harvest enough food at home, feeding not only their families but also extra workers who serviced the land. Enclaves of men and women grouped together to form communities that no longer needed to lead a nomadic or vagrant lifestyle. The Chinese Bronze Era ushered in a new era of man using knowledge to benefit society.
Essentially, most archeologists agree that the Chinese Bronze Era began less than 2000 years BC (around 1700 BC). The Chinese along the Yellow River used resources to steer in a new era of change and welfare. One of the biggest helps to the Bronze Era—and how it literally got its name—is the switch from Neolithic stone tools to the use and creation of tools, weapons, machinery and art from metals, namely bronze (made from copper and tin smelting). Gone are the days of man hunting and gathering and here to stay were the days when men began to have certain trades that benefited others. Instead of farming, these black (bronze) smiths, builders, weavers, miners and the like could hone their craft.
Antiquities—are those artifacts from the Middle Ages and anything older than four or five hundred years (rules differ)—from the Chinese Bronze Era can be bought and sold to collectors and investors who believe that such relics are worth something in private hands or public display. In either case, Chinese Bronze Era antiquities are about as dazzling as any other.
